Quote for Today, Author Unknown

Looks like we are going to be blessed all this week here in the Pacific Northwest with wonderful weather leading right up to the fourth of July! ( unusual here! ) I thought it only fitting to post an inspirational quote today!
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind...let it be something good."

Go make it a great day!

You can Heal your Life, By Louise L Hay

You Can Heal Your Life
By Louise L Hay
Illustrated by Joan Perrin Falquet
This weekend I finally sat down and read the book You Can Heal Your Life. Given the many millions of people that have all ready read it I could possibly be one of the very few left to read so it was time to dig in and get busy!
This book is amazing to say the least. At first you start at the beginning but then find your self after fifty pages wanting to skip around to see just what will be coming.
The premise of the book is that all your thoughts and feelings that you've experienced up to this moment is your past. What you are choosing to think, believe and say right now can create your future.
The book engages you in many thoughts and exercises. It is definitely not a one time read but a work/ reference book to use through out your daily journey.
The book is also beautifully illustrated by Joan Falquet and I found myself just flipping through out the book to enjoy all the illustrations.
Words can not capture in this blog post all the amazing tidbits that are represented in this book. However, I did find a short clip from YouTube which helps to discuss the book and apparently the movie.
We all desire change and to heal ourselves. This book is an excellent place to start that introspective look.
Enjoy

Here are some pictures of the front yard being torn up this week.
Demo and more demo! Look at all that dirt and roots! We got them all !

More Demo!

I'll Paint You a Rainbow - By Grace E. Easley

I'll Paint You A Rainbow
Grace E. Easley

I'll paint you a rainbow to hang on the wall,to brighten your heart when the gray shadows fall.On a canvas of joy outlasting the years, with a soft brush of sweetness to dry all your tears.

I'll paint you a rainbow with colors of smilesThat glow with sincerity over the miles. On a palette of words I will tenderly blendTones into treasures of sunlight and wind.

I'll paint you a rainbow that reaches so wide,Your sights and your sorrows will vanish inside,And deep in the center of each different hue,A memory fashioned especially for you.So lift up your eyes, for suspended above,A rainbow designed by the fingers of love...

Java For Jesus Web Site is up and running!

Java For Jesus Web site is now up!
After a month of working with my designer on the site we are now and up running!
Over the next week I'll be working on the content for each page. However, today you can take a look and even purchase a 1 lb bag of coffee!
One thing that I've learned to accept during my journey is that what my site looks like today is not what it may look like tomorrow !
Things evolve and change as we grown and learn. I may not want to continue to use pay pal forever and a different shopping cart. The look may change and even my vision of the company may evolve and that's ok too!
Please stop in and take a look! It's a start and we're now running!

Women's Empowerment Summit Follow up

What a wonderful afternoon on Saturday to head to Seattle to participate in the Women's Empowerment Summit. It was sunny and 75 degrees! Inside the " W " hotel it was hotter with some amazing participants and speakers! I arrived around 11:30 am and joined my fellow holistic makeover friends to sit and listen to some of those speakers prior to our panel later in the afternoon.
Here are some "take aways" from the day that I'd like to share with you
- FAITH AND FEAR CAN NOT CO EXIST
- DEMAND MORE, EXPECT MORE, GET MORE!
- A CONFIDENT WOMAN IS A WOMAN WILLING TO MAKE CHANGE! TAKE THAT FIRST STEP
- THE #1 EXCUSE WHY PEOPLE DO NOT MAKE CHANGE? IT'S NOT THE RIGHT TIME!
( YIKES, DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR ?)
I would definitely recommend this event for anyone to attend next year. It was at a beautiful venue and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun!
There were even some wonderful people who had come to set up booths with books, motivational CD's, designers offering services, The Dr. Pat Show booth!, and a person selling professional yet reasonably priced hand bags!
The Ummelina Spa was also there to support the event by having an area where they were giving hand massages! www.ummelina.com
Now that was WONDERFUL! Thank you!

Thank you Lord

Thank You Lord
A newly arrived soul in Heaven was met by St. Peter. The saint toured the soul around Heaven. Both of them walked side by side inside a large work room filled with angels.St. Peter stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all the petitions to God said in prayer are received." The soul looked at the section, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets from all the people of the world.
They walked again until they reached the 2nd section, and St. Peter told the soul, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are packed and delivered to the persons who asked for them down on earth." The soul saw how busy it was. There were so many angels working in that room, since so many blessing were being packed and delivered to Earth.
Finally at the farthest corner of the room, the soul stopped at the last section. To the surprise of the soul, only one angel stayed there idly, doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledging Section," St. Peter told the soul."How is it that, there is no work here?", asked the soul."That's the sad thing," Peter answered. "After the people received the blessings they asked for, very few send their acknowledgments.""How does one acknowledge God's blessing?", asked the soul."Simple", St. Peter answered. "Just say, 'Thank you, Lord.'"

Boy Scout Court of Honor Rank Advacement

It's that time of year when the school year wraps up and the kids advance to a new grade. For Boy Scouts that's no different! Provided you've EARNED the advancement. Last night was our Boy Scout Court of Honor. The boys and parents recognized the activities and achievements for the last couple of months. It was a jam packed evening and it was great to see such a group of boys having so much fun, learning and growing with each other. Branden earned his Tenderfoot advancement last night! I great honor. In the picture above he was asked what he liked the best about earning the advancement. You can tell he was thinking about it in the photo! He said the thirty days of exercise!

I'd also like to mention that there were two boys who earned the religious emblems. This was five months of intensive work with our Troop Chaplin. I was very impressed by what it took for these boys to now wear the religious emblem of their faith on their uniform. It is also nice to be involved with an organization which recognizes and teaches about faith, family and personal responsibility while having FUN! We are so fortunate to have this amazing troop in our own community.

25 more ways to make your neighborhood a community

Now that the days are longer and the weather is nicer we head outside for garden projects, and bbq's . We also tend to see our neighbors more often and I know on our street we engage in conversation briefly on the side of the street.
We are very lucky in our neighborhood! We get together regularly for the annual Christmas Potluck, block party and impromptu bbq in the middle of the street. My kids always look forward to these events and I know they'll look back and cherish these memories.
That's why I loved this article from Sunset titled, " 25 more ways to make you neighborhood a community". Here are some great suggestions on how you can bring everyone together.
When you make your neighborhood a community it is also a safer place as well.
Take a look at the article and maybe choose to one of these this weekend.
Occasionally we'll bring a folding table out to the street and serve ice cream for the kids in the evening. I think that's what we'll do this evening as the weather here today in Seattle is to hit the nineties! YEAH!!!

God's Boxes

God's Boxes

I have in my hands two boxes,Which God gave me to hold.He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,Both my joys and sorrows I stored,But though the gold became heavier each day,The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,I wanted to find out why,And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused,"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"He smiled a gentle smile and said,"My child, they're all here with me."

I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,Why the gold and the black with the hole?"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,The black is for you to let go."

Motivational Posters

So.. May was just one of those months and now the first day of June! After packing up my work computer for the evening to watch a bit of Little League I thought.... wouldn't it be great to make your own motivational posters to keep you focused, on track, and have fun?
Well, a little "Googling" and I found just what I was looking for and perfect timing for anyone else who may be looking for something besides those mundane posters you see in every store.
Meet Big Hue Labs!
You can upload your own photo, customize your message and text.
Perfect for work, kids at home, or school.
I played around with the one above.
(I love this picture I took of the kids over Memorial Day weekend. )
You can email to anyone and it pops right in your inbox.
Have fun creating your own motivational posters!
